Oval Coffee Roasters’ Whole Bean Coffee Variety Pack contains one bag each of Bowling Green, The Natural and Riverside. All three are roasted in New York City. Compare a Women-Grown light roast, a fruit-forward natural process coffee and a Half Caff blend using your own brewing setup.

You’ll need a grinder and your preferred brewer. This set suits a first Oval order, a home tasting or a gift for someone who enjoys freshly ground coffee.

One whole bean bag of each coffee

All three coffees contain caffeine. Riverside’s 50/50 blend describes the coffee mixture, not a tested caffeine amount in a brewed cup.

Build a tasting you can repeat

  1. Choose one method. Use the same brewer and water for your initial comparison, following the brewer’s recommended recipe.
  2. Measure consistently. Keep the coffee-to-water ratio steady. Grind only the dose you need immediately before each brew.
  3. Notice the differences. Taste each coffee on separate occasions or prepare small portions to compare. Note aroma, sweetness, body and finish as the coffee cools.
  4. Refine your favorite. Adjust one variable at a time for each coffee. A consistent starting recipe helps comparison; each profile may benefit from its own final grind or brew time.

Match your grind to the brewer

Automatic drip commonly starts with a medium grind; French press often starts coarser. Pour-over and Chemex depend on the filter and brewer, while AeroPress recipes vary. Follow your equipment’s guidance and adjust gradually, using taste and flow together.

Reseal each bag after use and keep it in a cool, dry place away from heat, moisture, direct light and strong odors. Grind only what you plan to brew and follow the best-by information on the packaging.

Is this pack pre-ground?

No. All three bags contain whole beans. You’ll need a grinder and brewing equipment. Check that a gift recipient has both.

Is this an all-Half-Caff or decaf pack?

No. Only Riverside is Half Caff, and it still contains caffeine. Bowling Green and The Natural are caffeinated coffees. Caffeine in a finished cup varies with dose and brewing.

How many cups will the set make?

Yield depends on each bag’s net weight and the coffee dose you use. Divide the net weight shown on each bag by your dose, using the same unit, then add the results. Cup size and brewer recipes vary.
