What Is Half Caff Coffee?
Half Caff coffee combines caffeinated and decaffeinated coffee. Oval’s Riverside uses equal parts caffeinated specialty coffee and decaf, then receives a light-to-medium roast in New York City.
The 50/50 description identifies the blend composition. It does not promise an exact caffeine percentage or milligram amount in every brewed cup, because dose, serving size, residual caffeine in decaf, and brewing method all affect the result.
What does Half Caff mean?
Half Caff, also called half caff coffee, generally describes coffee made by combining caffeinated coffee with decaf. Riverside uses an even blend: 50% caffeinated specialty coffee and 50% decaf.
Half Caff is not caffeine-free. It is a middle path for people who still want the aroma, preparation, and experience of brewed coffee with a lower-caffeine approach than a comparable fully caffeinated cup.

How much caffeine is in Half Caff coffee?

Coffee dose, cup size, the coffees used, remaining caffeine in the decaf component, grind, and extraction all matter.

Does half-caffeinated coffee need a different brew recipe?
Half Caff describes the blend, not a weaker brewing recipe. For Riverside whole beans, begin with your brewer’s recommended coffee dose, water amount and grind. Keep those quantities consistent when comparing it with another coffee, then adjust one variable at a time to suit your taste. Adding more water changes cup strength; it does not measure the caffeine in the serving.
