Hi, I’m Christopher Alspach, co founder of Oval Coffee Roasters.

I started Oval two years ago with the goal of taking everything I had learned over more than ten years in coffee and applying it in a more intentional and accessible way. Over that time, I completed more than fifteen thousand roasts, which adds up to roughly three million cups of coffee.

With that experience, we believe we are solving three of the biggest challenges people face with coffee today.

The first is clarity. Coffee can be complicated, so we focus on ideas that are simple to understand. Our blends are built around women produced coffees, which is something we believe is critically important to support. We also work with naturally processed coffees, which naturally invite curiosity about how coffee is grown and produced. And we offer a half caffeinated option, which many people are looking for as part of their daily routine.

The second challenge is convenience. We address this through our single serve pour over format. This approach is inspired by methods that have been used in Asia for years and introduced more recently in the United States. We believe we are executing it in a more thoughtful and elevated way, without sacrificing quality.

The third is relevance. We are building a company that is not only roaster driven, but also reflects millennial and Gen Z values, with New York City as a constant point of reference. Oval is about great coffee, but also about design, culture, and meeting people where they are.
